DecodeME is the world’s largest study of ME/CFS, and it is the scale of the study that has made it possible to detect meaningful genetic differences that hadn’t previously been discovered. Earlier studies involved much smaller numbers, which made it harder to detect clear genetic signals. Thanks to the thousands of people with ME/CFS who participated, we were able to uncover differences that may not have been identifiable had we studied a smaller group.
